Our story

A kindergarten teacher’s calm start

Laura Jensen opened Little Acorns in 2014 in a small building next to the Westmorland library branch, with a fenced playground behind it.

She built the day around that building: lunch and snacks cooked on site, and the afternoon report that tells parents how the day went.

The rooms are small on purpose. Eight children with two teachers means a morning can move at the pace of the children in it, and that a bumped knee gets noticed while it is still small.

Children who started here as infants now count, draw and tell long stories in the preschool room. That is still the point.
